Macos catalina compatibility7/11/2023 The gaming appeal of Macs should go up, there would be more Mac users on Steam, we're given the option to choose between Mac App Store (30% cut for Apple) or Steam store (30% cut for Steam), and a wide variety of games to play. If Apple does something along that route (Proton/Vulkan native support), it would benefit all parties and the Mac gaming market would be much larger than now. Proton, a compatibility layer is being developed by Valve/Codeweavers themselves for Linux machines to be able to run Windows games. In my opinion, Apple should start off by finding a way to make older Steam games (32-bit) that supported Intel Macs before running on M1 Macs and then expand from there, after that they can release both M1 native games on the Mac App Store and Steam at the same time. Apple, a multinational corporation doesn't care about PC gaming and rather focuses on mobile gaming for its easy profits. The Mac gaming market is small, no incentive for Apple or Steam to take it seriously.
